Pumpkin Fest Fun!!!

We celebrated our first annual PumpkinFest this weekend, and what fun it was! We had to keep it small this year as our pumpkin patch was limited relative to the number of local kids, but next year we will plant MORE pumpkins and announce it publicly, so everyone can join us. It was a beautiful day, and reminded us why we named ourselves Pumpkin Vine Family Farm: like the pumpkin vines that run far but are all connected to the same root, so we feel - and cherish - our connections to each other and to the land. We loved seeing so many of out walking and sharing the beauty of the day with each other. Lots of children joined us to decorate white pumpkins with sharpie markers, then Anil took them for a hayride, and we ended the day with make-your-own scarecrows. Through it all, the rich colors of the pumpkins & winter squash provided a reassuring glow of harvest's bounty, even as we peer into winter's dark tunnel ahead. Even the pigs got to share in the harvest... check out the last photo!
