Yule Goat & Holiday Crafts Dec 3 & 17

posted Nov 25, 2017, 9:19 AM by Kelly Roopchand
Our second annual Holiday market is twice the fun, with a visit from the Yule Goat and Tomten as well as beautiful handmade crafts from our local artisans and delicious treats from the Somerville Farmers Network.
In Scandinavian tradition, it is the Yule Goat who brings gifts to children, accompanied by the Tomten, a farm gnome who looks after the well-being of the animals. Here at Pumpkin Vine Farm, we are lucky to have our own special Yule Goat, and not one but two tomten who help us take care of the farm, and they will be visiting with children from 11 - 2. Special story-times with activities begin at 12 and 1, and children will have the chance to make a special treat for their animals at home.
After you visit the barn, browse the market for some extra special holiday gifts, from earrings and chains by Ms Alice's Designs to nature photography by David Rafuse, hand spun woolen mittens and sweaters by Janet Percival, Black Locust's cashmere goat yarn and pelts, nature decorations from Great Gardens, truffles and goat milk lotion from Farmer in the Dell, teas and salves from Ridge Pond Herbals, and hand-turned wooden bowls by Frank Tichy. On the edible treat side, you can't go wrong with our cajeta (caramel sauce) or Briggs Farm's honey or pork. And everything tastes better when it it graced by Sand Hill's organic veggies!
If it gets a little crowded inside the market, step out by the fire and have a mug of hot chocolate (on us) while you admire our special wild-crafted wreaths - we have sizes and styles to suit every home.
